Based out of Mercer Island, Washington, Lynn Skordal is a retired lawyer turned collage artist who creates works on paper from an island in the middle of the lake. Skordal's original passion and love for art was her motivation to make the transition from being a lawyer to becoming an artist...awesomesauce.

Nikos Gyftakis is an artist originally from Athens, Greece, and is currently based out of both Athens and Stockholm, Sweden. Gyftakis creates oil on canvas paintings of the psychedelic-kind that we love...

Hugo Barros is an artist from beautiful Lisbon, Portugal who creates handmade collages without any use of any digital manipulation. Looking through Barros' body of work, you can easily spot different collage pieces with recycled images that he reuses to create different visual variants of the work.

If you haven't seen Tom Beddard's previous feature from October 2011, take a moment now to check it out now. Trippy, right? Well, Dr. Beddard (yes, he has a PhD in laser physics from University of St Andrews, Scotland) is back at it with a new project, Fabergé Fractals, which was created using a WebGL-based fractal engine called Fractal Lab. Dr. Beddard currently is based out Glasgow, Scotland where he continues to create interactive museum exhibits and other awesomely trippy projects.

Kevin Beilfuss is an amazingly talented artist based out of Downers Grove, Illinois, USA who creates beautiful impressionist oil on canvas paintings. Beilfuss typically selects a lively color palette for his paintings, and his technique of loose, but deliberate brush strokes are well executed to make his portraits paintings truly something else. I mean DAMN...even his primarily sketches for his paintings look awesome.

We revisit Emily Burns who has a new series of paintings to present since her last feature on EK back in April 2010. Burns is currently based out of out both Lemont, Pennsylvania and New York City, New York.

César Biojo creates the types of paintings that I would kill a man for. Okay, probably not because I wouldn't last a minute in a maximum security prison, but like how I've said it many times before with other artists that we've featured on EK, I would punch a cute dog in the face for a painting.

China Mike (Mike Carr) is an artist currently based out of Bishopston, Bristol, UK where he continues to pump out paintings in his quaint and quite studio. “Process is as important as the end result. I don’t really feel a pressure to create realistically defined images these days. I want there to be a playfulness in my work, to not get bogged down in mechanical routines.”

Julia Randall returns to EK with a new series of color pencil drawings. Randall was previously featured back in May 2010, January 2011, and Interview on July 2012, so it's always a pleasure to revisit past favorites of ours.

Using various flesh-colored nylon stockings, Dutch artist Rosa Verloop creates figurative sculptural pieces that resembles something close to our primordial ancestors. Verloop's work is delicate and ethereal, as her portrait pieces (yup, you read right) sits at an "uncomfortable place in the life cycle between birth and death".

Alejandro Decinti Oyarzún is a Chilean-Italian painter currently based out of Spain who creates figurative oil paintings that often combines well-rendered subjects against expressive abstract backgrounds. The two visual techniques come together well in Oyarzún paintings in an stylistic way where brushstrokes takes prevalence over form.

Originally hailing from New Brunswick, Canada, Chris Woods is currently based out of Chilliwack, BC. Woods typically uses friends as subjects in his paintings which explores "belligerent branding" and "omnipresent advertising" in what is described as "contemporary landscapes of pop-culture". Woods incorporates many popular brands and icons to shed light on the anti-corporate movement in his paintings, and delivers them with subtle wit and humor.

Sophie de Oliveira Barata is a beautiful and wonderful human being. Barata is the mastermind behind The Alternative Limb Project which provides unique prosthetics that are specially designed to blend perfectly with the wearer's body OR to be an exclusive piece of art made specifically reflecting their personality and interests. This is a beautiful example of how art truly can touch and change the lives of individuals beyond just striking an emotional chord.

David Mesguich does just about everythang. Everythang?! Everythang. Graffiti, photography, sculptures, installations, drawings, paintings, video...you name it, Mesguich does it. Why? Because that's how Mesguich rolls. Why am I talking to myself? Because I forgot to take my crazy-pills.

Janice Wu is a young and talented artist currently based out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Wu's work focuses on seemingly worthless and mundane objects that are thrown by the wayside on a daily basis, transforming the ordinary into the playful and even precious items.

Artist Rodrigo Enrique Luff is originally from San Salvador, El Salvador, but is currently based out of Sydney, Australia after with his mother fled their home country to escape the decade long civil war soon after he was born. Luff creates everything from illustrations, drawings, mixed media pieces, and oil paintings, so definitely check out his website to see more of his work.

"...Beguiling beauty in the dark and disturbing..." I can't take credit for that because that'd be plagiarism (which runs rampant on the interwebs), but that perfectly describes the works of Clare Chapman, an artist currently based out of London, UK. Chapman creates awesome oil on canvas paintings that resemble "pus-filled pods" or alien eggs/cocoons that a fuckin' facehugger would just pop out of.

Serge Marshennikov is an artist originally hailing from Ufa, Bashkiria, Russia who has been actively creating art since childhood, and his skill set shows it. Marshennikov creates female portraits and other figurative nude oil paintings, and his work has been exhibited internationally throughout Russia, England, Denmark, France, and Japan. His work is consistently pursued by art collectors around the world which is no real surprise.
