Matei Apostolescu was featured on  May 11, 2010 and interviewed on  April 16, 2011 and is still killin' it with amazing explosions of color and intricacy. Feel free to get lost in the patterns whether to make sense of the universe or to have the absurdity of reality explode in your face, you'll likely experience both.

Glenn Brown was first featured back in March 2012. In his work he often adopts imagery that stems from classical works like those of Guido Reni, and takes you through the experience of seeing a piece through that special Glenn Brown eye.  He embodies the idea that inspiration in art should be taken freely, as nothing is exempt from being a visual representation of something else.

My favorite thing about painter Harry Holland's series of nudes suspended in the air is that you aren't really sure if they are falling or floating. What I have no doubt about, however, is Holland's talent in arranging his subjects in a beautiful and graceful manner.

Texas born illustrator AJ Frena uses both watercolor and digital art as the mediums to create work that blends nature with abstract.

Pennsylvania-native David Michael Bowers creates ethereal narrative settings with idiosyncratic characters that look straight out of old poetic literature.

This is the crazy, nasty, awesome, twist on aristocratic style of art that makes your brain hurt! Everything grotesque, bizarre and abstract about the work of Christian Rex Van Minnen, falls nothing short of spectacular.

Aron Demetz' medium doesn't rely on the shape of his sculptures, but rather the various stages in which the medium is treated and how each aspect of its creation and decomposition reflects on the figure itself. His sculptures of the human body range from raw almost unfinished wood carvings, to burnt remnants of what once was of his subject.

As promised by Bunnyman in his first feature, here is a second look at Mu Pan. I honestly cannot remember the last time I was this visually engaged. My intrigue starts with his crazy delicious mixture of modern and historic and elevates to a mind numbing love of the composition and detail. Mu Pang pieces are like a Where's Wally? of grotesque yet intriguing detail.

Iain Macarthur 's illustrations have found their way onto Empty Kingdom two times, in March 2011 and 2010.  They are awesome.  His lines are precise and poignant, his sketching and patterns call the eye to look and don't let it turn away.  Intricate, surreal and intense, I want to stare at a piece in real life.  Check out what he has to say:

SIT made his first splash on our site on November of 2010. He continues to create representations of the complex relationship between mankind and the animal kingdom using his signature bold technique.

Street artist and Illustrator DRAN aka Spencer Hickman uses his art to comment on issues of self expression and freedom in our society. He has been deemed the french Banksy for his dark sense of humor and sociopolitical commentary though his style reflects a very unique and much more illustration based delivery of his message.

The marvelous work of Travis Luie was once featured on EK back in 2010. Since then, his series of portraits have grown extensively; Luie gives his odd characters not only identities but a real life feel through his vintage timeless style.

Damian Loeb is an american oil painter, previously featured on 2010. In his most recent hyperrealist work, Loeb uses the abstract closeups and compositions of his subject to create sense of intimacy and voyeurism.

Canadian artist Andrew Young was originally featured on August 2010  and again on October 2011. He continues to develop a gritty style of painting filled with manic moods and erratic compositions. His latest work is like  slow time-lapse captured straight out of a dream.

Australian oil painter Michael Peck has a unique talent of blending the tenderness of his subjects, mostly children, with the somber feel reminiscent of the quite before the storm or the aftermath of catastrophe.
