Birgitta Sundström was recently mentioned in our feature on CabinOdd.  Now you get to hear her  speak for herself!  She uses simple colors that seem to hold my attention in a way that's hard to break away.  Check out her interview:

Mr. Sauli creates series of large format photographic prints described as Mimetric pieces. What is Mimetrics exactly? Well, catch up on the full explanation in the previously featured post on Mr. Sauli back in March 2011...but in a nutshell, he takes hundreds of stills from various movies, music videos, and animations and transforms them into a new and different visual narrative from the original. As you can probably guess, Mr. Sauli will be joining the best of the them in the BLOOM ART SHOW that will be held this weekend in Germany!

Kwon Kyung Yup is a long time favored artist by many of the EK staff here (featured previously in April 2010 and March 2011). Kwon's figurative work is delicately beautiful...although I'm not completely sure which works Kwon will be exhibiting, but nonetheless she will be participating in the BLOOOM ART SHOW, as if you didn't already figure that from the title.

Kirsten Wilmink is another artist represented by the CABINODD Gallery featured back in March 2011 that will be exhibiting her work at the upcoming BLOOM ART SHOW this weekend! If you're going to be in Staatenhaus am Rheinpark, Cologne, Germany, this is an art event that you're going to definitely want to check out!

In lieu of the upcoming BLOOM ART SHOW this weekend, EK is spotlighting some of the amazing artists that will be exhibiting their works represented by our very favorite CABINODD Gallery (The Netherlands) leading up to the date of the show. Hailing from Collingswood, New Jersey, USA, Buddy Nestor was featured back in March 2011, and his mixed media pieces are quite amazing. Nestor uses a variety of mediums ranging from acrylic, spray, and graphite to create his beautifully distorted paintings.

BOY OH BOY! The wonderful people at CABINODD (Netherlands) are back at it with another art exhibition with some of our favorite artists (Buddy Nestor, Kirsten Wilmink, Kwon Kyung Yup, Mr. Sauli, and well as Birgitta Sundström Jansdotter and Ludmilla van der Spoel) at the BLOOM ART SHOW from October 29 - November 1, 2011 in Staatenhaus am Rheinpark, Cologne, Germany! This is an international art show featuring artists from a broad range of disciplinary backgrounds stretching from fine arts, design, music, performing arts, fashion and literature to radio broadcasting, architecture, press, advertisement, software, and games

If you ask all of us in EK office as a group if we like movies...chances are someone might just throw a chair at you because we're psychotic about movies. Well, Mr. Sauli takes some of our favorite and most classic motion pictures (in this case, 2001: A Space Odessy, No Country for Old Men, and Amelie) and transforms them into a different visual art. By now, I'm sure you know by the heading that Mr. Sauli will be exhibiting his insane Mimetrics pieces for the dopest of the dope show, LIAISON Amsterdam!

Prof. Lasak (Przemyslaw Lasak) is an very talented sculptor originally hailing from Poland. Lasak is represented by ArtHebda Consulting, which is one of the four galleries participating in the LIAISON Amsterdam show that EMPTY KINGDOM encouraging folks to check out if you're in the Netherlands in early April.

Cedric Laquieze is an artist originally hailing from France. Laquieze creates very unique sculptures that spans a diverse range of mediums, from artificial flowers to dead insects. Laquieze's sculptures will be exhibited, as well other works by dozens of other artist at the LIAISON Amsterdam Show in April!

If by some miracle chance that EMPTY KINGDOM unchained me from my desk and allowed me to travel over seas, I would undoubtedly go straight to Amsterdam to check out Saturno Buttò's work in person at the upcoming LIAISON Amsterdam Show in April. It wasn't planned for his EK spotlight to be shown on a Sunday...it just happened to be coincidence that it did, and it seems only right. In many of Buttò's paintings, fetish objects and practices are often placed in a religious context that goes beyond just merely wanting to achieve a shock effect.

Artist Kwon Kyung Yup was previously featured on EMPTY KINGDOM back in April 2010. Yup's figurative paintings reveal an unassailable world of sensuality, duality, and emotional imprisonment. Yup will be one of the many artists who will be exhibiting new and current works at the LIAISON Amsterdam Show (check the link for exclusive details) in April! Don't miss it if you're in the Amsterdam area!

In preparation for the anticipated LIAISON Amsterdam Show (check it out!) coming up in April, we wanted to spotlight another artist who will be exhibiting their work. Kirsten Wilmink is a German-based artist who regularly incorporates stereotypes and prejudices of ordinary people in her work. Wilmink's works are a combination of staged and digitally manipulated photographic images.

Buddy Nestor is an artist based out of Delanco, New Jersey, USA. Represented by Cabinodd Gallery (Netherlands), Nestor is one of the many extraordinary artists to exhibit in the upcoming LIAISON Amsterdam Show (April 2-10, 2011), which in fact, will be a traveling show!

It's no secret that we, here, at EMPTY KINGDOM are huge fans of worldly art. That's why we're unabashedly excited to spotlight the upcoming LIAISON Amsterdam Show (April 2-10, 2011), which is packed with artists that EMPTY KINGDOM endorses (and have featured previously on our site)! The LIAISON exhibition is a collaboration with four other galleries to showcase classical and modern art side to side. Each of the four galleries are presenting a crossover between classical and contemporary figurative art, surrealism, realism, and related movements. Traditional techniques are exhibited alongside digital art in the industrial Loods 6 building in the beautiful city of Amsterdam. The LIAISON exhibition will first be launched in Amsterdam, and will then travel to Antwerp and Miami, presented sometimes in new formations, but always with the same objective.
