Katie Scott is an illustrator currently based out of London, UK. Scott has worked for a long list of clients producing editorial illustrations, such as Universal Records, Phaidon Press, New York Times Magazine, BBC, Platform Magazine, and Earth Magazine among many others. Scott has a great "old-timey" text book visual style in her illustrative work that brings me back to elementary school.

2012 was an unpredictable, fast, scary, wild, and beautiful year in many ways. While the media want to talk about the Mayans and debate the end of the world, to tell you the truth none of that matters. Because every day is somebody's last day on earth. Every day people lose loved ones who mean the world to them. While we would love nothing more to speak only of the beautiful wonderful possibilities of the new year, 2012 was sobering in many respects and it would not be honest to ignore some of the incredible human tragedies of the year.

Italian artist Chiara Biancheri uses the help of Microsoft's Apophysis software, a fractal flame editor to create organic whimsical figures. She utilizes the effects of fractal flames, which are basically iterated images manipulated in tremendously sophisticated ways, and gives a whole new light to this geometric wonder. Pretty mathematical stuff!
