Alex Kanevsky (previously featured back in November 2011 and January 2010) is a Russian-born fine art painter that's recently had an amazing solo exhibition at the Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco, CA.

Damian Loeb is an american oil painter, previously featured on 2010. In his most recent hyperrealist work, Loeb uses the abstract closeups and compositions of his subject to create sense of intimacy and voyeurism.

Maria Szollosi is painter based out of London who creates a sense of richness with the various icons she creates using female faces, as she incorporates a strong graphic aspect.

Montreal based artist Sandra Chevrier's series "Cages" portrays women trying to find freedom from the cages of societies twisted preconceptions of what a woman should or shouldn't be.

George Karakasoglou is an artist based out of Greece where he creates paintings that makes me ask..."Who's got the DMT? No one? Acid? Okay, okay...shrooooooooms?"

Canadian artist Andrew Young was originally featured on August 2010  and again on October 2011. He continues to develop a gritty style of painting filled with manic moods and erratic compositions. His latest work is like  slow time-lapse captured straight out of a dream.

The fourth and final artists that Empty Kingdom is proud to bring to SXSW ReCREATE:ATX will be Derek Gores.  The fantastic master of the collage will undoubtedly be putting something stunning and novel up on the walls in Austin Texas.  Derek understands that this is about community, encouraging anyone near the event to bring something for him to include, a bold offer from a man who knows what art is truly about.

Currently based out Taipei, Taiwan, Hsiao-Ron Cheng creates paintings of surrealist nature where she depicts children, plants, and animals with odd physical deformations or conjoined body parts in equally weird environments. Cheng's work is visually beautiful with the soft and inviting color palette that she uses throughout her body of work.

It's been a little while since we last saw the work of Rob Soto, his previous features were on August and November of 2010 and a revisit on 2011. It's time we brought the most recent of his watercolor wonders along with a look at some of his crazy erratic sketch work.

Victor Castillo is a Chilean painter currently residing in Los Angeles, CA. At a young age, he was inspired by animation he saw on television, science fiction movies, and the illustrations on his family’s record covers such as Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”. Mr. Castillo has an underlying dark theme with an old-fashion look that reflects our past and modern society, which may be considered offensive to some viewers.

The next of the fantastic four artists that will be participating in the ReCREATE:ATX event, which is only 1 week away, is none other than Hugh Leeman.  Discussing everything from personal maturation to the ignorance we have towards the richness of the life the person walking by you on the street, his interview is well worth a read.  

Currently based out of Barcelona, Spain, Javier Gonzalez Pacheco is an artist who creates both traditional and digital figurative paintings, as well as detailed pen drawings from time-to-time. Dwight Hwang is an artist based out of Mission Viejo, CA who lived in Japan for many years specializing in traditional Japanese Art of Gyotaku. All of his original prints are done in the 'direct' style in which sumi ink is brushed directly onto the fish and then covered in calligraphy rice paper.

With his eyes set on the upcoming Empty Kingdom / HOPE Campaign event at SXSW, in Austin Texas, we have taken a little time to ask David Young, D Young V, about his work passions and his goals.  D Young doesn't shy away from the meat of the issues at hand, his discussion is relevant, intelligent and straight forward.  Read on:

Justyna Kopania is a Polish artist who creates beautifully textured oil paintings of marine vessels. Kopania's work is a bit of a refreshing break to see how she manipulates and uses this traditional medium in a different way.

Oh, Ben...I've been wanting to feature Ben Frost's new work for a while, but due to the strict posting schedule that all the authors follow, I wasn't able to squeeze him in until now. Mr. Frost was previously featured back in November 2010, and since then, Frost has been creating "Packaging Paintings" where in which he takes standard boxes, cartons, and other consumer packaging and paints pop culture icons, cartoon characters, and other sexually charged manga imagery exploring themes of consumerism on many different levels.

Originally hailing from Boston, Massachusetts, Scott Listfield is a simple artist who "paint astronauts and, sometimes, dinosaurs," and we can't complain about that. Listfield creates oil on canvas paintings of "a lone exploratory astronaut" roaming present day urbanscapes surrounded by pop culture icons and corporate logos. "The astronaut in my paintings is simply here to explore the present."

Igor and Marina are a Russian duo that delve into the intricaties of symbiosis and balance. Not only do they manage to be married, working together and not kill each other, they create the most sumptuous oil paintings that layer abstract, traditional and symbolic elements like a glorious, golden baclava.

Australian oil painter Michael Peck has a unique talent of blending the tenderness of his subjects, mostly children, with the somber feel reminiscent of the quite before the storm or the aftermath of catastrophe. He was originally featured on January 2012, here is look at his latest, still ominous and thought provoking work.

Mary Jane Ansell is a British artist who creates exquisite oil paintings that grace classical elegance with an almost regal oddity - capturing perfectly that eerie alienness so revered in fashion.
