This is not your auntie’s embroidery.
Hailing from Lima, Peru, Ana Teresa Barboza fills her portfolio mostly with embroidery pieces, but also showcases her sculpture work. She often depicts humans with animals in her embroidery, whether it’s leopards satisfying their hunger by taking a bite out of a man, or a full-bodied bear costume a woman is sewing closed on a man. The influence of animals can also be seen in her sculpture, where the leg of one animal is merged with the neck and head of an orange-billed duck to create a leg for a table.
