Artist Ana Teresa Fernandez originally hails from Tampico, Mexico. Fernandez is not only an oil painter, but a performance artist as well. Several years back when I was still in college, I had the privilege of having Fernandez as a special guest speaker in one of my advanced painting classes. Fernandez’s works explores issues of women sexuality, and the double standards imposed on women and domestic work.
All of Fernandez’s oil paintings are actually considered “performance documentations” where she models and engages with the environment herself, then transforms them into paintings based off of the photos taken.
