Based out of Providence, Rhode Island, USA, Rebecca Adams produces acrylic on canvas paintings cinematically composed and stylized as if they were stills pulled from a film.
"This body of work is a point of connection between two mediums, my beginnings in photography and the transition into painting. They are a study in film noir; contrasted lighting, bold graphics, and dramatic characters. They allow me to combine my instinct in photography, a direct connection from audience to portrait, and my heart in painting, where light and form are open to interpretation yet more responsive to my hand. They are moments caught on film, which bleed out into fields of pattern and shadow. The subjects become clothed in abstraction, which blurs the line between film and painting. While I have always been infatuated with photography, I have found myself much more passionate about the creation of work on canvas; watching the abstract form out of darkness into realistic portraits that draw an emotional response from the viewer. This body of work has created a point of entry for me to explore two worlds."
Currently based out of Castelfranco Veneto, Treviso, Italy, Dario Moschetta is an artist who isn't afraid to experiment by mixing anything with everything in his work. Moschetta will go as far as to add glue and color paper to his canvases in order to create rough and irregular surfaces to build texture in his paintings.
With all this talk about the Zombie Apocalypse being right around the corner (EK has already begun our preemptive strategic and survival plans), it seems like artist Shi Jin Song is on the same page as us! What better way to protect your little bundle of joy than to have one of these! Song has created a series of baby strollers and carriages outfitted with spikes and gun mounts all made out of good ol'steel.
