It’s hard to deny the blatant oversexualization of everything. Quite literally, everything. Sex is used to promote and sell anything and everything you can think of. Well, John Currin combines influences from Renaissance oil paintings to 1950s women’s magazine ads with contemporary sexual politics. Currin combines the beautiful and the weird with equal measure in his depictions of lusty, doe-eyed female figures often portrayed in gross proportions that both enchant and repel.
