Daniel Merriam had a childhood that was heavily characterized by creativity. Never attending a formal art school, he studied for two years at the Central Maine Vocational Technical Institute for mechanical and architectural design, after which he worked for architects and builders. However, by listening to his convictions and the call of his passion, as well as receiving his father’s approval, Merriam strayed from the construction business and began to pursue a career in the arts.
