Photographer Gustavo Cisneros is currently based out of Mexico City, Mexico. Cisneros’ body of work is definitely on the risque side (his tumblr site for sure), but I respect raw photographers who are willing to present work that is controversial whether audiences can appreciate the work, or simply turn away in disgust.
It, then, only returns back to the tired, age old philosophical debate whether works, such as Cisneros, is art or not simply driven by subjective interpretations and expectations of this so-called “standard” of what art is supposed to be. If art isn’t provocative, then what’s the point? Well, I would then ask myself in contest, does art always need a point?
Do I always talk to myself? Yes. And the medication doesn’t seem to help.
