José Castrellón is a photographer originally from Panama. Castrellón is a portraitist who understands that we, as people, are simply what surrounds us. In his “Priti Baiks” set, Castrellón documents individuals in Panama who express themselves through their customized bikes modified with whatever meager resources that are available to them.
This particular photo set strikes a familiar bell of another photographer we featured, Matthew Reamer (June 2011), who documented the infamous Scraper Bike movement that started in Oakland, California, USA by under-represented youth of color.
Definitely check out Castrellón website to look through his entire portfolio.
