In 2009, photographer Mark Holthusen was chosen out of 1,700 photographers by the camera manufacturer Hasselblad for its prestigious Hasselblad Masters Awards. Arming Holthusen with a brand new Hasselblad H4D-3, they sent the San Francisco-based photographer loose to run with the project theme of “passion”. Well, Holthusen being Holthusen, he created a photo set entitled, “Crimes of Passion”, which is undoubtedly exactly what it sounds like…
With no project constraints and given complete creative freedom, this project was an obvious divergence from Holthusen’s typical body of work shooting fashion and commercial work.
