Art Blog - Matthew Brandt - Empty Kingdom

With overexcitable middle school girls flashing their digital cameras on what feels like every square inch of the planet these days, it takes a lot of wading, arm-flailing, just generally floundering to find an incredible photographer – but one which makes you stop and rethink about the limits of the medium itself is unthinkably rare. In his Lakes and Reservoirs series, experimental photographer Matthew Brandt first photographs a body of water, and then soaks the C-prints in its water, allowing the actual entity to influence the image produced of itself. Stunning.
