art blog - Michael Johansson - empty kingdom

Swedish artist Michael Johansson takes found-object art into a very unique direction. Johansson takes found objects and perfectly inserts them into specific spaces without leaving any visual gaps between the objects and in the space itself to create various sculptural and installation pieces.

Over the years, Johansson’s work has become more and more larger in scale, and increasingly more intricate in arrangement. Other than “objects-in-spaces” and “objects-in-objects” pieces, Johansson creates unique one-off sculptural “kit” pieces of objects or equipment resembling toy model kits.
