From design work to photography, Sandy Kim, I love you. Smut or art, raw or just repulsive…it’s the tired age old question that people ask when viewing works, such as Sandy Kim’s.
If the art in question provokes a strong response, psychologically or even physically, whether drawing audiences deeper into the art or turning them away completely in disgust, then the art has been successful in reaching the viewers, no? Perhaps not, particularly if one has confined themselves to a very strict label and criteria of what art is. What does the institutional world of art know that we laymen don’t about art?
Kim has far more images of her site that I just couldn’t feature. Not because they were risque, but due to the fact that I just couldn’t put all of her images in one featured post. Instead, think of this a small sampler of Kim’s overall body of work up to now.
