In 1977 by happenstance, photographer Sean Kernan dropped by a prison to ask if he could take some photos, and the Warden simply let him in! Kernan has exhibited his work internationally in France, Greece, Italy, Egypt, and a slew of other countries. Today, we take look at Kernan’s “In Prison” series, as well as another one of his, “Kampala Boxing Club”, the oldest boxing club in Uganda.

“What I learned is it’s so much more complex than that…Every single case is a different case. You can’t generalize about race, or about criminality. But, above all, you can’t hate — because you’ll always get it wrong.”
