In Carl Burton‘s Shelter, a simple attic becomes the starting point to an ever-growing woodwork of imagination. It took me by surprise, as I kept trying to anticipate what might happen from one scene to the next in this CG-generated architectural playground.
Burton meshes together warm orange glows, eerie reverberant creaks, and an endless array of warped / shattered planks of wood all situated in a weightless and hollow subspace. A real meditative and abstract work that floats from scene to scene, until returning back to its inevitable point of origin. To readily summarize:
“An epic secret world is revealed within an attic during a rainstorm.”
