Daniel Nettheim is a director from Sydney, Australia. His majestically eerie feature The Hunter (not to be mistaken for Rafi Pitts‘ film of the same name, featured earlier on EK here) explores one man’s inner / outer nature as he trudges through the wild Tasmanian terrain in search of an ultra-rare beast. Interesting to note that director / author Julia Leigh (Sleeping Beauty) aided in adapting her novel to the screen. Read the brief official synopsis as follows:
“Based on the acclaimed novel by Julia Leigh, The Hunter is a powerful psychological drama that tells the story of Martin (Willem Dafoe), a mercenary sent from Europe by a mysterious biotech company to the Tasmanian wilderness on a dramatic hunt for the last Tasmanian Tiger.”
Trailer along with two interviews can be streamed down at the bottom of the page, enjoy.
