Victoria Goro-Rapoport’s beautiful theatrical drawings developed from her years as a set designer. After graduating from Moscow Art College with a BFA in 1985, she continued on to the University of Utah. There she received a MFA in set design in 1998. That was the start of her life in theater as a set designer.
Working on various projects ranging from dramas to puppet theater, she always found the most enjoyable part was process of drawing. As enchanting as a theatrical set can be, it has its limitations. Victoria Goro-Rapoport craved a world where the imagination could run wild. She eventually fully delved into drawing and printmaking. Using her strong knowledge of theater technology and detailed drafting, she creates her intricate drawings that leaves my brain liquefied yearning for more.
