damn, that looks really really hard to do, and its so realistic but without being boring infarct its realizem seems to heighten the drama and make everything so dramatic. vary cool stuff.

Wow! I am so glad to have Stumbled upon this site for artists, especially Sebastian Krueger. I too am a figurative and portrait artist, but have never attempted to do anything on such a large scale! I Also, I usually avoid acrylic paint because it dries so quickly. I much prefer oils.

Sebastian Krueger is obviously a very talented and gifted artist.
Just a pity that he portrays people in an unflattering manner.
He uses great insight and compassion to dramatise his subjects and shock people.
Can you imagine what master pieces would be produced if he saw people
and subjects as “beautiful” and wonderful and unique and managed to draw out
the positive side of his subjects and pictures, instead of producing one ugly
dramatic painting after the other. I definitely would not like one of his paintings
on my wall – no matter how gifted and talented he may be. I like to sleep peacefully.

I don’t think this is unflattering or ugly. They are beautiful! If you looked at these guys in realy life don’t you think this is the way they look. Thanks Krueger for painting the truth in people

I don’t think this is unflattering or ugly. They are beautiful! If you looked at these guys in realy life don’t you think this is the way they look. Thanks Krueger for painting the truth in people. And I prolly wouldn’t want a picture of you on my wall either

Thank you Megan. Alice listen up. Only the weak shy away from the ugly, The strong face it, it’s reality, and if it begs a cure they compound one. There is nothing more beautiful than that. If by ugly you mean age and winkles, shame on you, but you’ll get there, we all will. To be immortalized in a work of art such as this, for your truth, not some glamorized falseness is an honor.

WOWWWW! His work is amazing! The detail.. I just can’t get over it. Bravo!

Isn’t it amazing what can happen when the artist leaves himself out of the painting and allows the subject speak for himself? WOW freakin’ WOW

These are so photo realistic and so caricature-ish at the same time. The MJ one at the top makes me uncomfortable… It’s probably supposed to.

Michael Jackson’s eyes are so creepy.

  29. Joaquín on August 24, 2010 at 5:01 am

Awesome technique… but I don’t see the extreme exaggeration here.

I am guessing that his paintings will have started from a projected photo onto the canvas, which he then painted over. His audience must have been invited only when the painting was underway. There’s no doubting his painting skill though.
