09.03.08 - THE BLUE BIRD

Starring

Arden Cho
Tam Shin
THE BLUE BIRD is a personal approach about two neighbors that lead two separate stories. Yumi and Yu-min are both experiencing the loss of meaning and reasoning in social order. Yumi questions the idea of love after recently suffering from betrayal. Yu-min is a frustrated photographer, living through a psychological crisis, finding his method to connect with his personal mental psyche. The director enters the hidden world of our subconscious mind portraying philosophy through our incomprehensible, visual dreams.

02.13.08 - Ready Set Go?
Welcome to Empty Kingdom Media. New Clean Shiny Toy the company can tinkle with for an extra 20 hours a week. Our space ship is still very American made, so please sit back and try to relax as we fix the speed bumps through deep space.
01.04.08 - Asian American Rising
AArising.com -Run by Nelson Wong, a great site for Asian-American Entertainment news/updates. Nelson has been maintaining this site for quite some time now, and does a fine job of it. His passion is evident and I recently asked him to be a part of our new documentary, which was previously titled "Yellow Fever" but is now looking for a new name, as we want something fresh and original. Any ideas? An official press kit is near completion, and I'm really excited as to the men/women involved. Mums the word until it's official.
In other news, we are producing a new comcast ad for our favorite Comic Shop, Dr. Comics & Mr. Games, located in Oakland, CA. It is a great shop run by Mike Pandolfo, and I have personally been a patron for over ten years now.... I got a good concept for the ad, and will share more later.
01.01.08 - 2008!
Happy New Year Everyone! 2008 is shaping up to be really great, I can feel it!
12.22.07 - The Million Dollar Kid
We are proud to announce the hiring of a new intern, Adrian Kang, a bright-eyed, fresh-faced young man just bursting with ideas and energy. Poor boy doesn't know what he got himself into. Welcome! He joins the ranks of interns along with Ricky and Arnold, who are both relieved. Also, we had our company Christmas dinner... we are just a happy family drinking soju and eating galbi all night.
Love you guys!
12.11.07 - V Obsession - The Event
V-Obsession, a one time event held in a small venue (I mean tiny!) and filmed for promo purposes. Danny did the filming and editing. I showed up, had some drinks, and left, as I had an editing job to finish. Damn this year has been a grind. Anyways,
I like the look Danny made out of it.

12.07.07 - Amy Hanaialli & Aids
Well, the year is wrapping up, I am really excited about the new year coming. 2007 was supposed to be the year of change, I wonder what 2008 is? Last week, we shot a PSA. There will be four total, the first one was a one-day shoot with Amy Hanaialii Gilliom, a singer from Hawaii. She's real popular there and abroad, because she is credited with brining back a Ha`i (female falsetto singing.)
Some photos, PSA to be posted when edited.

11.16.07 - West 32nd
Hi Everyone,
Click here first: http://movie.naver.com/movie/bi/mi/basic.nhn?code=62637
I am helping to promote a young and exciting new director, Michael Kang. He is a Korean-American filmmaker, whose first feature "The Motel" debuted last year at the Sundance Film Festival, and internationally premiered at the Pusan Film Festival. "The Motel" was the recipient of the Humanitas Prize as well as three top jury prizes from the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, The San Diego Asian Film Festival and The Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. The film was also awarded the 2003 Sundance/NHK International Filmmaker's Award.
In short, his first film was a major success, and as a result, Michael has been the first Korean-American filmmaker to receive a deal with Korea's CJ Entertainment (Joint Security Area, Warrior, Memories of Murder), a leading production/distribution company in Korea. CJ Entertainment has a $130 million investment in Dreamworks SKG.
Michael's new film "West 32nd," starring John Cho, Grace Park, Jun Kim, and Jane Kim is being produced by CJ Entertainment and is set to premiere in Seoul this November, 22nd.
This is a big deal for Korean-Americans in general, as Michael's deal with CJ entertainment marks a turning point in history, and the first step in bridging the gap between Korean and Korean-American films.
If West 32nd opens well in Korea (box office weekends matter in Korea just as much as America), then it will open the gates for many more Korean-American Filmmakers and artists who reside in the US.
Please help support this important film by telling everyone you know in Korea to check out "West 32nd," and when it comes to the Bay Area eventually, check it out for yourselves as well!
Spread the word by the click of a mouse:
If you hit this link to Naver.com: http://movie.naver.com/movie/bi/mi/basic.nhn?code=62637
~ you will help build the rating meter of the West 32nd page. If enough people click, we can get on the front page of Naver. For those of you that don't know, Naver is like Yahoo and Google in one for Koreans.
As a prideful Korea-American filmmaker myself, I thank you in advance for your support and please feel free to contact me if you want to know how to help more!
*If you area non-Korean, please forward this to any Koreans you may know!
Sincerely,
Henry J. Kim
