Two of the insane and gorgeous paintings of Caleb Brown are currently hanging at 111 Minna for the Empty Kingdom Summer Show!  His work draws on real world crises and issues, both international and global, and the subsequent fallout.  Taking very real situations and issues and framing them through hyperrealism and photorealistic painting Caleb challenges what the viewer assumes and asks more about the social underpinnings, causes and effects of these catastrophes.

Denis Peterson's work is soulful and gorgeous.  He depicts the humanity and dignity inherent to the human experience.  We are honored to say that one of his amazing pieces will be coming to the Empty Kingdom Summer Show. After reading his interview I spent the afternoon in the park talking to two homeless gentlemen and was incredibly thankful for the humility gained from just shutting up and listening to strangers talk about their lives.  What will you do?

EK Interview: Michael Ward

Michael Ward - Empty Kingdom - Art Blog
I love the modern day abandoned Americana mystique that Michael Ward's work seems to be steeped in.  There's a romance to it, the rich pastel colors seem to pop out and call to you to come visit these places that people walk but ignorant to the beauty Michael imbues them with.  We have the honor of featuring his work at the EK Summer Show, so come to The City if you can!
